Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.”
Job 1:9-10 ESV
Devotion
Satan didn’t believe that Job’s motives were pure. He didn’t believe that Job feared and served God because he loved God, but because God had given him so much. After all, Job was one of the richest men in the East. From Satan’s point of view, the only reason why Job feared and served God was because there was something in it for him. In effect, Satan was saying that Job was a fair-weather servant, that Job’s fear and service were superficial and conditional.
Satan thought that all it would take to get Job to curse God to His face would be to give him a test by sending some adversity his way (Job 1:11). It’s not that hard to see why Satan would believe this, because it’s so often true. For many people, all it takes is a few trials, troubles, or tribulations to get them to give up on God. Their fear and service of God truly is weak and superficial.
Job, as it became clear, was not like that at all. He passed the test. Satan was proven wrong. Although he complained to God about how he was being treated, he never gave up on God. When his wife, whose own fear and service were conditional, urged him to curse God and die, he said, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this Job did not sin with his lips” (Job 2:9-10). Job not only passed the test, he became the hero of every believer that has trouble in life.
Today, you may be going through some Job-like trials and troubles. Today, Satan may be trying to prove that your fear and service of God is conditional. Stand firm and show him that your faith is genuine...

_Key Bible Text:_
*Don't take Wicked Bypass; don't so much as set foot on that road. Stay clear of it; give it a wide berth. Make a detour and be on your way.* (Proverbs 4:14-15) (Message)
_Bible Insight:_
Renew your commitment to do only goodworks daily. Renew your commitment to refrain from evil, injustice and wickedness.
Proverbs 4:14-15 (GNB) Do not go where evil people go. Do not follow the example of the wicked. Don't do it! Keep away from evil! Refuse it and go on your way.
Remember that everyday is another day to be tempted to do evil, or something wrong or sinful.
But you can always choose to walk away, overcome it, obey God instead and do what God wants you to do.
Take sometime to reflect about your daily activities. Before each day, think of ways you can show kindness and do justice. At the end of each day, reflect upon your day and figure out where you did well, or could have done better or missed a chance at being kind or doing good or shunning evil.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Proverbs 4:14-15 (NLT) Don't do as the wicked do, and don't follow the path of evildoers. Don't even think about it; don't go that way. Turn away and keep moving."*

_Key Bible Text:_
*"I don't want you ending up in blind alleys, or wasting time making wrong turns. Hold tight to good advice; don't relax your grip. Guard it well--your life is at stake!"* (Proverbs 4:12-13) (Message)
_Bible Insight:_
Wisdom guides in the good and right way. Wisdom does not lead one astray or to a dead end. Wisdom avoids unnecessary or frequent trials and error. Wisdom comes with the grace for accuracy.
One of the ways of wisdom is holding tight to good advice. It is a wise attribute to develop a penchant for good advice whether they are convenient or not.
Wisdom does not focus on the mode within which a good advice is offered. Wisdom is more interest at getting better and doing better that they don't have time to worry or stress over how the advice was delivered.
Wisdom teaches one to guard great advice and execute them.
_MEDITATION:_
*"If you put to work 70% to 80% of all the great and wise advice you have gotten this year alone, your life will definitely take a better turn and shape. Try it"*

Wisdom also promptes longevity. Wisdom promises a life of purpose and direction. Wisdom leads to uprightness.
Proverbs 4:10-11 My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life. I will teach you wisdom's ways and lead you in straight paths. NLT
Wisdom again is found in Christ. We will need to be loyal, faithful and focused on Christ for Him to lead us to a "long, good life."
We will be taught wisdom's ways and lead a life of direction and purpose when we ensure we stick to paying attention to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Every night we go to bed without any assurance of being alive the next morning, but still we set alarms to wake up. That is hope.
Once all villagers decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer, all the people gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella. That is faith.
When you throw babies in the air, they laugh because they know you will catch them. That is trust.
We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future. That is confidence.
We see the world suffering, but still, we get married and have children. That is love.
On an old man's shirt was written a sentence "I am not 80 years old; I am sweet 16 with 64 years of experience." That is attitude...

_Key Bible Text:_
*"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her."* (Proverbs 4:7-8 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Prioritize wisdom over other things. The only caveat is, don't fall for any kind of wisdom that contradicts or negates Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:21 (KJV) For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1 Corinthians 1:22 (KJV) For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1 Corinthians 1:23 (KJV) But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
If your "wisdom" makes you turn away from God, you have actually missed wisdom. Christ has been made for us wisdom.
So the wisdom we must get is the type that places Christ as saviour, Lord and King over all.
_MEDITATION:_
*"True wisdom, promotes and brings honour to those who seek the wisdom from above"*

_Key Bible Text:_
*"Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee."* (Proverbs 4:5-6 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Wisdom and understanding must be sought after, pursued, and aquired.
Wisdom and understanding can be forgotten. Effort must be made, structure put in place, so as not to forget ...
One can decline wisdom and understanding. One must make a conscious decision never to decline words of wisdom and understanding.
Those who fail to recognize wisdom and understanding when they appear, will refuse it either ignorantly or stubbornly.
The wise elders of late king Solomon advised his son to treat the people nicely, but Rehoboam was not in alignment with God. Hence, he didnt detect the wisdom and understanding of the aged.
Instead he swallowed the nonsense from his age mates, and paid the heavy price of losing the larger part of the Kingdom to Jeroboam.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Rehoboam forsook wisdom and as a result the kingdom was not preserved. Love wisdom and understanding for they will keep you and yours"*
